Glass Exhibitions at The Green Vault, Tonhalle Dusseldorf
In 1926, a planetarium was built on the Rhine in Dusseldorf. It formed part of the buildings “Am Ehrenhof”. In the 1970s, the planetarium was transformed into a concert hall.
From 1980 to 1985, the Kunstmuseum Dusseldorf had to be closed for maintenance. During this period, the glass collection of the museum found a temporary home in the Green Vault of the Tonhalle: a hall adjacent to the north side of the concert hall.
Today, the Glasmuseum Hentrich is back to its former place, the museum kunst palast, 300 m north of the Tonhalle. However, the Green Vault of the Tonhalle is still in use as a place for special glass exhibitions.
